Singer impersonator Christina Bianco on Divallusion at the Edinburgh Fringe

Described by Time Out New York as “a comic firecracker with a pyrotechnic voice, who drives the audience wild,” Christina Bianco is a genuine YouTube sensation. She started performing as a young child and it was only when she decided to audition for Forbidden Broadway that she honed her talent for vocal impressions. Last year she posted her version of 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' on YouTube where she impersonates 19 different singers. She was shocked when it went viral, led to an appearance on the Ellen Degeneres Show and currently has almost 6.5 million views.

In part one of my interview with Christina we discuss whether that YouTube exposure related to people buying tickets for shows and becoming true fans.

Since I was interviewing Christina in Edinburgh we discuss her Fringe show Divallusion with Ian Stroughair aka drag queen Velma Celli. I was interested how it came about and what it was like collaborating closely (and sharing stage time) with another performer.

In the next edition we discuss the nitty gritty of creating a new show, the importance of patter, and how to take care of the voice.

Recorded in Edinburgh on 20th August 2014
