Tom Derycke - How to talk to a lighting engineer - Part 1

Belgium born Tom Derycke has been a lighting technician for seven years at events ranging from  theatre shows to corporate events, opera to raves. In part 1 we discuss the difference between the lighting designer, the programmer and the lighting technician. Tom describes the lighting equipment at his disposal on a cruise ship and why it can be more challenging for the technicians to work with guest entertainers than on the in house production shows. Tom explains the problem of “information overload” and we discuss the best way for acts to explain to the engineer what they want in their show.
