Legends of Guitar
Case Study
I met guitarist Matt Wolfe and vocalist Lainie Munro onboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship while they were working in the production shows. They wanted to create their own guest entertainer and had already read Cabaret Secrets. I was happy to be around to help them on their way. It's been such a pleasure watching it all come together. They are both brilliant at what they do and I think they've created a very special show.
"Gary Williams has been absolutely instrumental in helping us create our headliner show. After two contracts working as a production singer and orchestra guitarist for cruise lines, we had seen every headliner act that played our vessels, including Gary, and we were inspired to create our own act. The first thing we did was buy his book "Cabaret Secrets". His book is so thorough, so candid, so incredibly informative and helpful, and a fun read as well. Gary's advice and insight on how to create your own show is second to none. After reading it, we began to create our own show and write the arrangements for our set list. In 2015 we were fortunate to book a third contract together as production singer and orchestra guitarist for a major cruise line and, taking Gary's advice from his book, we decided to use the opportunity to get our show in front of an audience and perform it as much as we could while on the ship. It was such a hit with the passengers the cruise director asked us to perform it every week! We asked Gary to watch the show and take notes. Afterwards he gave us fantastic advice on how to edit our reel, how to present our show to agencies, etc. He was so generous with his time and so incredibly helpful. He has been a huge source of support and encouragement for us. Little did we know that one year after buying Gary's book we'd have a hit show of our own, and a slick press kit too, all thanks to his advice. If you want to create your own headliner show, take my word for it, buy his book. Gary knows his stuff, and is one of the kindest and most generous artists we have ever had the pleasure of working with."
