At The Movies CD review by SoulJazzandFunk.comGARY WILLIAMS is a UK based jazz and swing singer with an incredible 15 albums under his belt! His music CV is hugely diverse – ranging from working with the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra through to topping the bill at Ronnie Scotts. In between he's presented shows on BBC Radio 2 and Jazz FM and even written a showbiz book, 'Cabaret Secrets'.Gary's latest album is his celebration of five decades of Hollywood classic movies. 'GARY WILLIAMS AT THE MOVIES' offers 15 tracks taken from all kinds of film classics. Amongst the selected songs are 'Isn't This A Lovely Day' (from 'Top Hat'), 'How Deep Is Your Love' (from 'Saturday Night Fever') and the ever lovely 'Spooky '(which featured in 'Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels').Clearly Gary's a cartoon fan.... no less than five of the songs here featured in animations and they range from 'Jungle Book's' 'Bare Necessities' to 'When She Loved Me' from 'Toy Story 2'. It's clear that Gary also likes Elvis just a little – here he offers treatments of 'Home Is Where the Heart Is' (from 'Kid Galahad'), 'Pocketful Of Rainbows' (from 'GI Blues') and 'I Need Somebody To Lean On' (from 'Viva Las Vegas').Gary will be the first to admit that his versions of these well-loved classics aren't ground breaking; they're not meant to be... simply a celebration of great music from a selection of wonderful movies.
