"Songs like these make you want the ghosts of Mel Torme and Matt Monro to come back and sing them. Until they do, Gary Williams is their worthy guardian." Leslie Bricusse
There's a moment, when every recording artist listens back to their first attempt in the studio, and they realise, with disappointment, they don't sound like their hero after all. In my case that was Frank Sinatra. It didn't take me long to realise how very special he and his generation of singers were and that making a good sound in a studio is not as easy as it looks. But it hasn't stopped me trying. Before I met John Wilson, I'd already recorded four discs but it wasn't until our collaboration at Abbey Road when things got serious. Each CD is a marker of where I was in my musical journey. Every one has been a joy and a challenge and hopefully, as someone once said, the best is yet to come".
