10 years with the RNLI
June 10th 2009
Last Sunday we had the pleasure of attending a presentation in York where I was given the Bronze Award for 10 years of service to the RNLI. I’ve been proud to serve as President of the hardworking Barton Upon Humber branch of the RNLI since 1997 when Ros Cash, their tireless stalwart found me singing in Grimsby’s Freshney Place and asked me to replace MP Michael Brown who was stepping down.
I am constantly amazing at how hard the branch members work to raise £1000s for this worthy cause. Regular book sales, cake stalls and door to door collections. 2005 saw their 35th anniversary and in that time they have raised in total over £100000. Incredible! I am pictured with Chairman Janet Stockdale who also received the Bronze Award.
